10 rules every high-achiever needs to unlearn
Why I deleted 40% of my book and, a rare opportunity for 25 leaders.
True story:
I’ve been writing my book Chasing Enough for four years.
And a few months ago, I cut 40% of it.
Here’s what I learned—much of the book was written by an old version of me. A version that hustled for her worth, over-explained, and needed to prove something.
I didn’t know her anymore.
The words, the stories—they were an important part of my journey, but I no longer needed them in my present. So I let them go.
And in doing so, I realized:
There’s a difference between sharing stories from the past and telling stories from wisdom.
The former is for validation. The latter is for transformation.
Now, I’m inviting a small group of high-performing leaders to be the first to read the real version of this book.
To help shape it, apply it, and live it—before it’s published later this year.
The lesson?
High-achievers don’t need more information. They need integration.
We read all the books, consume all the content, and intellectually know what needs to change.
But knowing isn’t the same as doing.
Which is why I created The 10 Commandments of The Well-Resourced—the mindset shifts I wish I had learned before burning myself out:
1. Burnout is self-betrayal. If you’re exhausted, it may not be because you’re doing too much—it may be that you’re prioritizing the wrong things.
2. More isn’t the goal—enough is. You think you’re chasing success, but what you really want is freedom.
3. If you don’t design your life, someone else will. Be the architect, not the laborer.
4. Hustle is a trauma response. Overworking isn’t a badge of honor; it’s a coping mechanism.
5. Leadership isn’t about being liked—it’s about being trusted. Boundaries > approval.
6. Doing it all alone is the fast track to nowhere. Control will keep you stuck.
7. The best investment you’ll ever make is in your energy. Protect it like your livelihood depends on it (because it does).
8. You’re not tired, you’re uninspired. Misalignment and performing drains more energy than effort.
9. Success without fulfillment is failure. If you reach the top and still feel empty, you were climbing the wrong mountain.
10. The most powerful person in the room is the one who isn’t proving anything. Real confidence is quiet.
I know how hard it is to unlearn the patterns that got you here.
But I also know that doing it alone makes the process 10x harder.
So I’ve created something I wish I had when I was stuck in the burnout loop…
For a handful of high-performing leaders, I’m opening a small group coaching cohort to put these principles to life in real time.
This isn’t a course. It’s not a training. It’s a way of being.
It’s a transformational experience that will call forward your highest-level self.
