Small Shifts, Big Wins: Your Year-End Reset
Feeling overwhelmed by resolutions? Let’s reset the simple way.
I’m on day 6 of "What day is it, and what cookie should I eat next?" mode.
🍪👀 Anyone else?
This isn’t one of those “new year, new me” emails. Personally, I’m not a fan of the January self-improvement bandwagon.
But here’s what I do believe:
Big, meaningful change starts with small, intentional shifts.
Living a life by design means constantly auditing and optimizing—not chasing drastic overhauls. That’s what sustainable change looks like. I help my clients do this in their monthly and quarterly routines, and it’s a game-changer.
If you’re ready to reset (at your own pace), here are three small shifts I love to focus on before the ball drops. 🪩✨
1️⃣ Write a Frustration List
What’s draining your energy?
What needs to go?
Before adding more goals to your already packed to-do list (or committing to that marathon you know you don’t have time to train for), start with what’s already on your plate.
Set a for 7 minutes to jot down what’s frustrating you.
Then ask yourself: What does better look like?
This simple exercise is your first step to letting go of what no longer serves you and reclaiming control over what you say yes to in your life.
You’ll never fill a leaking bucket. Before you add more…plug the drains.
2️⃣ Design Your Ideal Week
I call this the pay yourself first method. 💸💸💸
Put YOU into your calendar first—whether it’s workouts, date nights, self-care, or quiet mornings. Block that time and work toward living it.
Here’s an example:
Maybe joining the 5 a.m. club feels impossible right now (fair enough!). But could you start by waking up 30 minutes earlier this month? Use that time to conquer deep work, journal, get more steps in, or sip your coffee in peace.
Small, consistent shifts like this lead to big wins over time. I share templates and guides on this inside my time-rich program.
(Progress > perfection!)
3️⃣ Plan Travel for the Year Ahead
In the spirit of paying yourself first…map out trips and adventures that make your heart happy.
For me, that’s:
A quarterly trip with my husband ( think concerts or sports for long weekends )
A solo “think week” (usually off the grid)
A girls’ getaway with my bestie
Visits to see Mom
In my experience, if it’s not in the calendar, it won’t happen, set the flight alerts and block the time before the year starts.
While planning, we also do a relationship reset: festive cocktails in hand, we reflect on the past year and talk about what’s next using our annual guide [ here ].
The Science of Small Shifts
Here’s the thing: Small, intentional changes compound over time.
🔹 “ Decide the type of person you want to be and prove it to yourself with small wins. “ - James Clear
🔹 “The majority of what you want will come from the minority of what you do.”
- Gary Keller
Want to play big in 2025? Start small.
✨ Want less chaos? Notice where you're tolerating it—like the junk drawer. Go clean it.
✨ Want to delegate more or lead better? Offload just one thing.
✨ Want more connection? Start by connecting with yourself.
If you want this to be your best year yet, keep one promise to yourself.
Then see how long you can hold it.
Your ability to keep your word to yourself is everything.
And while it may seem underwhelming, one small, kept promise could be the catalyst for something much bigger.
Just Decide: What Does Better Look Like?
Once you have that answer, you’ll know what to focus on—and that’s a powerful start.
💡 Save this email for later—perfect for when you’re sipping on your favourite bevvie at with your friends or partner or having a quiet solo coffee in your jammies.
Here’s to small shifts and a bright year ahead 😎
See you next year 😉
