The Chase for 'Enough' Ends Here.
Enough Isn’t a Destination—It’s a Choice.
It’s 8:30 PM as I write this.
My Apple Watch just pinged me:
"59 calories to go to close your move ring. A brisk 25-minute walk should do it!"
Brisk?
It’s snowing sideways, and I’m already in my pyjamas. The idea of heading out feels absurd, but here’s the rub: I feel the pull.
That whisper of “just push a little more”—even when what I really need is rest.
This moment captures something bigger, doesn’t it?
The constant pressure to be more, do more, achieve more.
Even our pursuit of wellness has become just another box to check on the to-do list.
Does this sound familiar?
Do you feel behind?
Like you’re chasing a moving finish line?
When’s the last time you let yourself exhale and thought:
I’ve done enough.
I’ve given enough.
I am enough.
If you’re like most of us, that moment is the exception, not the rule.
It’s an epidemic many of us struggle with, I call it the Enough Fallacy:
The idea that if we just do one more thing—just push a little harder—then we’ll finally feel enough.
But we never do.
Why? Because we haven’t defined it.
Here’s the truth:
This moment—choosing rest over rushing—is a reminder of how far I’ve come.
I’ve learned to be kinder to myself.
To separate my self-worth from what I do.
To choose enough.
And this perspective bleeds into how we show up as leaders.
If we are this hard on ourselves—constantly chasing and questioning our worth—what are we modelling to those we lead?
Are we teaching them that rest is a failure?
That perfection and self-sacrifice is the standard?
That no matter what they achieve, it’s never quite enough?
When we choose to define and embody “enough,” we model something radically different.
We teach those who are looking up to us how to:
Value their contributions.
Celebrate progress.
Create space for rest and growth.
We lead by example.
Defining Your Enough
Enough isn’t something you find.
It’s something you choose.
Enough with your presence.
Enough with the way you led today.
Enough with the hours you worked—wholeheartedly but imperfectly.
Now, pause and ask yourself:
What is my “enough”?
If you’ve never defined it, how will you know when you’ve arrived?
This week, let’s practice.
Here’s how to start redefining “enough” in your life and leadership:
☕ Savor your coffee before rushing to your next task.
🍴 Eat lunch away from your desk—free from screens.
💬 Let longer hellos and goodbyes anchor your connections.
👏 Celebrate your team’s growth, even if there’s more to do.
🌱 Acknowledge what you’ve already achieved before turning your focus to what’s next.
💡 Take a moment to honor your own growth—the version of you who’s overcome so much to stand where you are today.
These small acts of rebellion remind us that we are already enough, even in a world that constantly pushes us to do more.
What I’ve Learned
The day I stopped measuring my enoughness against what I was or was not doing, everything changed.
When you learn to trust that you’re enough:
You lead with calm confidence.
You stop apologizing for taking up space.
You create a culture of appreciation—a safe place for you and your team to grow.
This week, let’s model enoughness.
That project you wrapped up? It’s enough.
The effort you gave today? You did enough.
The way you showed up in that hard conversation? You gave enough.
It didn’t go as planned? Oh well. Let it go and grow from it.
Not as a way of settling, but as a way of breaking the chains of unrealistic expectations—and inspiring others to do the same.
Where you are now is a place you once dreamed of.
Let it be enough.
Because you are enough. ❤️
